Trigger Point Injection (TPI)
Trigger Point Injection Therapies consists of local anesthetics and natural substances injected into trigger points to stimulate healing and repair.
Referred pain from muscle, ligament or periosteum trigger point is felt not at its true site but at a distance. The referred pain pattern is characteristic for each muscle or ligament and seldom crosses the midline. The pain usually radiates in a distal direction. For example, pain in the heel can be referred from a trigger point in a calf muscle.
